3 Healthy Post-Workout Smoothie Recipes to Try Today

There’s nothing quite like a healthy smoothie after a good workout. You’ve worked hard, burned some calories, and that post-workout smoothie is just the thing you need. Berries & Protein

  • 2 cups milk (we love almond milk for this recipe)

  • 1 banana

  • 2 cups blueberries and blackberries

  • 1 scoop protein powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 cup ice

Mocha Power

  • 1 cup milk

  • ½ cup iced coffee

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1 tablespoon almond butter

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder

  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

Green Ginger Mango

  • 1 cup milk (coconut milk is great for this recipe)

  • ½ cup coconut water

  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 cup frozen mango cubes

  • 2 tablespoons walnut, chopped

  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder

  • ½ teaspoon fresh ginger

Tips for the best smoothies

Smoothies are generally simple to make, but there are a few tricks out there for getting the best smoothie every time. First, use frozen fruit over fresh fruit whenever possible for thicker smoothies. If you only have fresh fruit on hand, that will be fine but you’ll have to add more ice for consistency. Second, there is an order for blending items for the best integration. First, blend the liquids. Then you should add fruits and vegetables, and then any additional ingredients such as yogurt almond butter, protein powder, and spices. Third, blend longer than you think you should. This doesn’t mean blend all morning, but blending your smoothie for a longer period only ensures full ingredient integration and smooth consistency. Cutting the blend time short will only disappoint. Fourth, enjoy immediately! Smoothies don’t keep well so enjoy right away.
