When you were little, snack time was probably your favorite part of the day. So why should that stop just because you grew up? Snack time is still important! After a meal, our bodies are energized and ready to take on the day, but three to five hours after that your body has burned up a handful of that energy, and it’s time for you to eat a snack. Choosing snacks that are high in protein and low in sugar will fulfill your hunger longer than if you were to choose a candy bar. A snack such as a protein bar or a small cup of oatmeal will keep your energy up until your next meal.

Although snacking is important, there are a few guidelines you should snack by. Never eat a snack right before a meal; it will take away from being able to eat a proportional and nutritious meal. Also, only eat a snack if you are truly hungry.
