3 Healthier Versions of Your Favorite Desserts

Everyone loves eating dessert, and cutting it out of your diet is one of the hardest parts of starting to follow a healthier lifestyle. You need to eat less sugar if you want to lose weight, but we are almost addicted to sweet foods. Many people that are trying to lose weight try to stop eating dessert anyway, in a type of cold turkey approach. This often doesn't work well and leads to breaking down and binge eating only days into the new diet.

Instead of an all or nothing approach, consider trying a more moderate approach. What if you could eat healthier without cutting out dessert ice creamcompletely? It turns out that you can, and doing so isn't even that hard. All it takes is finding healthier versions of your favorite desserts. Here are three alternatives that you should try.

1. Sorbet instead of ice cream

Now that it's summer, who isn't looking longingly at all the ice cream in the store's freezer aisle? Instead of a big bowl of rocky road (which is full of fatty cream and process sugar), try a fruit sorbet instead. Many varieties will have a lot less sugar, and you can even find varieties that are made with fruit juice or stevia for a healthier burst of sweetness.

2. Trading Greek yogurt for pudding

Many desserts call for pudding as an ingredient, and Americans love to eat it all by itself, too. It's not good for you at all, though, so anyone that's health-conscious should be figuring out how to change it out.  Greek yogurt is a great substitution in almost all cases. It doesn't have nearly as much sugar, and yogurt is actually better for you due to its natural active cultures. That's two great health boosts in one dessert alternative!

3. Healthier nutella

Nutella, that delicious combination of hazelnuts, chocolate and sugar is one of the most popular sweet spreads in the world. You can put it on almost anything to make it more delicious. The spread isn't great for your health, though. Luckily, you can make your own version at home. By using alternative sweeteners, you can cut out that unhealthy sugar and create something just as good as the original.

Boosting your weight loss with Meratrim

While cutting out sugary and fatty foods can help your weight management plan, it will never work to do so by itself. Any successful weight loss works by touching on several important areas at the same time. A great way to boost the weight loss that you're already achieving with alternative desserts is to use a natural weightloss supplement such as Meratrim.  Studies have shown that it can help your body lose weight faster than by just dieting or exercising by themselves. It's not a magic bullet, so you will still need to diet and exercise, but having a boost from Meratrim gives you the extra help needed to lose weight at the speed you want.
