The tone of your morning sets the tone for your entire day. It’s important to have an energized routine to start your day right! Mornings tend to be a stressful time of the day. Families are getting their children ready for school, getting ready for work, trying to eat breakfast, and still get to their jobs on time. Having mornings that are regularly rushed and stressed does not make for a refreshing start to the day. There are a lot of different ways to work toward having a happier morning. You need to find what works best for you and your family. Here are five tips to consider implementing for an energizing morning!
Wake up earlier.
This may seem like the opposite of what a person should do if they want to feel refreshed and energized in the morning. It isn’t. Waking up earlier will allow you to spend more time doing things in the morning, so you are less likely to feel rushed. Try going to sleep just a half hour to an hour earlier each night, so that you can wake up earlier.
Breakfast is a very important part of the day. Breakfast gives your body the fuel that it needs to conquer the day’s activities. Without breakfast, your body is running on empty. The right kind of breakfast boosts your metabolism, energizes you, and prevents you from munching on unhealthy treats throughout the day.
Get moving in the morning.
Sometimes you can’t fit in a full workout every morning to feel energized. That’s OK! Try some simple stretching when you get out of bed. You will notice a great difference in energy after just 5 minutes of morning stretches.
- Touch your toes.
- Reach toward the sky.
- Stretch your calves, glutes, arms, and shoulders.
These easy stretches will wake up your whole body for a productive morning and day.
Prepare for the morning.
- For a successful and productive morning, get prepared in the evening. It can be helpful to lay out the outfit you want to wear, so you don’t struggle with the decision-making in the morning. You can also lay out your family’s outfits, so they aren’t asking you for help in the morning.
- Shut off your screens, such as your laptop, cell phone, and TV at least 30 minutes before you try to fall asleep. You will find that is easier to fall asleep if you haven’t been staring at a screen right before bed.
- Relax. Try to relax in the evening. Read a book, drink some tea, de-stress. Sleeping in a relaxed and calm state will help you feel more energized and refreshed when you wake up in the morning.
